Mission Statement
The Center for High Frequency Electronics at the University of California,
Los Angeles, is committed to providing students and faculty with state-of- the-art
design, fabrication, and testing of RF, microwave, and millimeter wave networks,
circuits, and components. Our first goal is to provide state-of-the-art computing
power and software to allow current users to design and simulate novel and
innovative structures. Secondly, we wish to provide accurate fabrication facilities
that can produce common structures such as microstrip and coplanar waveguides,
and finally, to provide precise and accurate equipment to test and characterize
those structures. In addition, we strive to maintain and improve our equipment
and facilities to achieving and sustaining the highest standard of quality and
technology.
Future Goals
Our continuous goal within the Center for High Frequency Electronics is
to upgrade and improve all aspects of the design, fabrication, testing facilities.
For the future, we are interested in pursuing equipment that can be used more
effectively in the microwave and millimeter wave regime. We are also actively
seeking components and test equipment that have the ability to produce or measure
signals up to 110GHz, as well as for computer software capable of modeling up
to those frequencies. Looking forward, equipment capable of testing optical
frequencies is also being pursued. Ultimately, it is the goal of the Center to provide
equipment and facilities that can support the frequencies beyond 500MHz, and
provide a useful and sustaining resource within the University.
